CHURUBUSCO - A Warsaw man is dead after he lost control of his car while trying to flee police in Churubusco early Tuesday morning.
John Khiev, 23, of 1692 E. CR 200N, Warsaw, was driving in Churubusco around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday when a police officer attempted to stop him for speeding.
Khiev refused to stop and led the officer on a chase before losing control of his car. According to reports, the officer said Khiev turned off his headlights as he was entering a curve on U.S. 33 near CR 700N in Whitley County. Khiev reportedly was travelling more than 100 miles per hour when he approached the curve.
Police do not know if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident. The incident remains under investigation.
Khiev's funeral arrangements are pending at Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw.
