A Warsaw man was arrested early this morning after battering a woman who is pregnant with his child. Jacob I. Hamilton, 20, of 419 S. Indiana St., Warsaw, was arrested for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage, a misdemeanor; domestic battery in the presence of a child less than 16 years of age and battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant female when the defendant knew she was pregnant, both felony charges. Shortly after midnight, Hamilton had met with the victim at her work. On the drive home, he wanted her to stop to get more beverages, according to the police report. She refused and Hamilton became angry, throwing items in the vehicle. When they arrived home, the victim attempted to remove an infant child from the vehicle when Hamilton began kicking the vehicle. She asked Hamilton to leave when he threw her onto the ground and began stepping on her head. Hamilton then began pressing on her eyes with his thumbs. She managed to escape and avoid further injury. Hamilton was booked in Kosciusko County Jail this morning. A bond amount has yet to be set.
