Warsaw Man Charged with Beating Girlfriend in Front of Children

Chaise Ray Belcher was arrested Sunday afternoon by Warsaw Police Department, a week after allegedly beating his girlfriend in front of their two children. According to Kosciusko County officials, Belcher, 23, of 1067 N. CR 175E, Warsaw, and his girlfriend were gathering his personal items so that he could move out. While doing that, Belcher threw a beer can at her, which hit her under her left eye. Police confirmed a cut and a bruise on her face. After being hit, the victim attempted to call the police. Belcher took the phone from her and blocked the doorway so that she couldn’t leave or use a different phone, leaving the victim with scratches on her right wrist. Both of their children were home when the incident occurred. Belcher was charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony, and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor. He is being held at Kosciusko County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
