Nicholas S. Phillips’ condition was downgraded from fair to serious condition over the weekend.
Phillips was the victim of a bar fight at Rex’s Rendezvous, Warsaw, where 28-year-old Joe Garrett Swanson beat him in front of the bar early Friday morning.
Phillips was taken to the Kosciusko Community Hospital, then later to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital in serious condition. Later Friday morning, Lutheran Hospital informed the Times-Union Phillips was in fair condition.
Swanson turned himself into police at 4:20 p.m. Friday at the Kosciusko County Jail. Swanson was charged with aggravated battery, a Class B felony. His bond was set at $10,000. He bonded out Friday night.
If convicted of aggravated battery, Swanson could face six to 20 years in prison.
