Posted
A Warsaw man was arrested Monday after he allegedly touched a cashier at a local supermarket inappropriately.
According to an affidavit filed by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, Warsaw Police Department officers responded to a report of sexual battery Monday and spoke to the victim who advised she was cashiering at the supermarket when a customer entered the store around 7 a.m. and purchased an item from her but continued to shop. The subject – later identified as Alexander Brice Salyer, 19, of 826 N. CR 650W, Warsaw – then came back to the victim’s lane and began speaking with her.
She told police Salyer was “very flirty” and asked her if she was single. He then spoke to and touched her inappropriately and she told him to get out of the store.
Video surveillance showed Salyer approaching the victim, reaching toward her groin area and the victim reacting.
Salyer, who was identified through the use of his shopper’s card, admitted to police that he spoke to and touched the victim inappropriately. He was arrested on a felony charge of sexual battery and held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $2,000 bond.
