A Warsaw man was arrested Wednesday on child molesting charges. Leon Gene Warner, 53, of 558 S. Circle Drive, Warsaw, was arrested at 3:36 p.m. Wednesday for child molesting. His bond was set at $25,250. According to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, on Monday Kosciusko County Sherriff’s Department Officer James Smith responded to a subject threatening to commit suicide with a handgun at 558 S. Circle Drive, Warsaw. Smith arrived and was greeted at the door by Leon Warner, who told Smith he had a loaded gun in his bedroom. Warner told Smith he wished he would have had the guts to pull the trigger when he had the chance. Smith asked Warner why he wanted to kill himself. Warner said he had done something bad and did not want his family to be disappointed in him. He told Smith he touched a female relative in an inappropriate manner a couple of nights ago. Warner advised that the female relative was staying the night at his home, sleeping on the couch, and he put his hand down inside her underwear, inappropriately touching her. She woke up and he told her that he was sorry. KCSD officers obtained Warner’s semi-automatic handgun from his bedroom and Warner identified the gun as being the one he was going to kill himself with. Child Protective Services were contacted by KCSD and took the victim to CPS where she confirmed Warner’s story. A CPS caseworker reported Warner was confronted with the allegations against him by the female relative. The relative told Warner’s wife what Warner had done. Warner is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on suicide watch.
