Warsaw Kiwanis Club Celebrates 92nd Anniversary

Posted
Warsaw Kiwanis Club members last week celebrated the 92nd anniversary of the club founded on April 5, 1921.
That first meeting, attended by 58 new Kiwanis members, was held at the Hays Hotel, which then stood in downtown Warsaw where the main offices of Lake City Bank now stand.
That night, each member made a commitment to the ideals of Kiwanis: to provide service to their fellow men, women and especially children.
Today, it is the goal to help children that remains the stay of all Kiwanis’ efforts. In fact, the mission of Kiwanis International is to change the world “one child at a time.”
To this end, Warsaw Kiwanians work together to raise funds that will help children from the local community and from around the world.
Projects include the Rose Project to raise money for Riley Children’s Hospital, and the annual pancake and egg breakfast which helps Kiwanis support local needs here in Warsaw.
This year’s breakfast is coming up on April 20 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. at  Center Lake Pavilion. Tickets are available at the door for $6, or $5 presale from any Kiwanis member.
Today the Warsaw club’s 89 members meet each Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shrine Building.
Each meeting includes fellowship, lunch and a brief educational presentation by local individuals who have information to share on their business or programs.
Meetings are open and members of the public are invited to attend to learn more about Kiwanis.
