Warsaw Fire Dept. Seeks BOW Approval For Family Safety Day Activities

Posted

Matt Warren, Warsaw fire department chief, presented a request before the Board of Public Works and Safety Friday to use MCAxe and the Firecrew during its Family Safety Day Oct. 8.

The board approved the motion, which will permit MCAxe, Fishers, to perform an educational program to Safety Day audiences on proper fire procedures and prevention.

The board also approved a request from Janelle Wilson, activities director of the parks department, for a contract with The Story Peddlers for sound system services during Fall Family Fun Oct. 7.

Final payments to Woodruff & Sons, Bradenton, Fla., were approved by the board, marking the completion of a sewer installation and maintenance project, which began November 2004.

The board also:

• Accepted bids for salt sales for the upcoming winter. Four responses were received and only one gave a numerical quote for supplies. The three other companies denied a bid for the salt inquiry.

• Approved promotions to fire department officials. Kreg Warren is now captain, and Aaron Bolinger was promoted to lieutenant.

Andrew Callaway will become a probationary firefighter after replacing Tom Drummond, who is retiring.

• Approved raises for Kimberly Arnold and Connie Volkert, both of the clerk's office. Each will receive an additional $500 per year.

• Approved travel requests for David Beall, Warsaw Airport, to the Aviation Association annual conference in Angola; and Steve Adang, Warsaw Police Department, to polygraph seminars and training in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Present members were Mayor Ernie Wiggins and Charlie Smith. Member Jerry Patterson was absent.

The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7.
