Warsaw Domestic Violence Task Force Launches Online Survey

Posted
A local task force is gathering statistics and information in an effort to improve help to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Kosciusko County.

The task force put a questionnaire survey online Thursday that asks eight questions regarding domestic violence in Kosciusko County. The questioner also provides a section where those who complete it can provide responses.

The task force began meeting in July to discuss developing a one-stop center in Kosciusko County where victims could visit to seek information and assistance in dealing with victimization issues, according to Becky Moreno, victim assistance coordinator for the Warsaw Victim Service Center.

There are 140 members on the task force that include representatives from Kosciusko County businesses and citizens.

"The purpose of the survey is to get a better picture of victimization in our community so we can better meet the needs of those who have been victimized and create an awareness to better serve victims in our community," Moreno said.

Moreno said sexual and violent crimes are often underreported. The questioner provides the opportunity for people to anonymously answer questions about domestic violence that will be used to help others who have undergone victimization.

Names and e-mail addresses will not be collected. Answers will be tabulated only by total number of responses for each question.

The survey also can be submitted anonymously in printed form by mailing it to Victim Service Center, 600 E. Winona Ave. Suite 8, Warsaw, IN 46580.

The questioner will be online at www.surveymonkey.com/domesticviolence through October for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
