Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) officially launched the 2026-27 school year Wednesday with a districtwide staff celebration centered around the theme Leading The Way.
The event marked the kickoff of the district's new five-year strategic plan, built around the acronym LEAD, representing its four strategic priorities: life-ready learners, engaged families and community, aligned operations and administration and dedicated teachers and staff, according to a news release for WCS.
More than 1,000 teachers, support staff, administrators and employees gathered at the Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center to celebrate the start of the new school year. The morning featured breakfast, a Community Partners Fair and the distribution of this year's Tiger Tuesday shirts, designed by recent WCS graduate Amani Rodriguez. Staff from schools and departments across the district also took the stage alongside Windy City Dueling Pianos for "The Playlist of the Year," to reenact the staff's (and students’) journey of a school year.
As the new school year begins, WCS also invites families to attend upcoming back-to-school open houses:
All Elementary Schools, Thursday, Aug. 6, 4:30–6:00 p.m.
Edgewood Middle School & Lakeview Middle School, Tuesday, Aug. 11, 6–7:30 p.m.
The first day of school for WCS students is Friday, Aug. 7.
