Warsaw Community High School Students Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Posted

Warsaw Community High School (WCHS) announced two students have been named finalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Seniors Preston Park and Ian Parrott have advanced to Finalist standing after meeting a rigorous set of academic, testing and application requirements, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.
Each year, more than 1.5 million students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT. Of those students, approximately 16,000 are named Semifinalists, and about 15,000 advance to finalist status. Finalists are now eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarships, which will be awarded later this spring.
This recognition reflects a sustained record of high academic performance, strong standardized test scores, and a comprehensive application that includes school recommendations and student achievements, according to the release.
“We are incredibly proud of Preston and Ian for this outstanding accomplishment,” said Principal Troy Akers. “Earning National Merit Finalist status is a testament to their dedication and work ethic. Congrats, Ian and Preston!”
Finalists will now be considered for approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, with recipients announced beginning in April and continuing through the summer.
