Warsaw Church Buying Mosquito Nets for Africa

Posted
Every 60 seconds someone in Africa dies from malaria.

Members of the Warsaw area have a chance to help put a stop to this at the First Friday festivities this week.

Warsaw’s First United Methodist Church will hold a “Skeeter Stomp” fundraiser through the Imagine No Malaria organization at 6 p.m. Friday for mosquito bed nets. Ten dollars purchases one net and one entry for the run/walk event. Participants can find sponsors from the community to help them buy more nets.

Attendees can choose from three distances including 0.7 miles, 1.75 miles and 3.1 miles. The event starts downtown.

Those interested can either send an entry form and fee including their names and address to First United Methodist Church, 179 S. Indiana St., Warsaw, IN 46580; or register at First Friday from 5 to 5:45 p.m.

After 160 years, Imagine No Malaria approaches their goal from four different ways: prevention, treatment, education and communications. Together, there is a chance to save millions of lives, according to Imagine No Malaria.
