Student musicians from across Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) earned top honors at the ISSMA District Solo & Ensemble Contest on Jan. 31, hosted at NorthWood High School.
This marks the second consecutive year that all middle school participants earned Gold ratings, according to a news release from WCS.
Thirty-five Warsaw Community High School (WCHS) students performed in 31 events, earning 27 gold ratings and four silver ratings. Sixteen students and groups qualified to advance to State Solo & Ensemble, which will be held in Indianapolis Feb. 28.
Middle level musicians from across WCS, including students from Edgewood Middle School, Lakeview Middle School and the sixth-grade band program also had an exceptional showing, stated the release. Thirty-four students performed in 32 events, and every performance earned a Gold rating. Their day included 27 solos and five ensembles, with seven students performing in both a solo and an ensemble, and two students performing two solos on different instruments.
