As far as Warsaw Community High School Athletic Director Dave Fulkerson is concerned, everything will be ready for tonight's home football game.
"We feel the facility is ready to go," he said today.
"Everything will be ready for tonight. They're putting the finishing touches on it (today)."
The Warsaw football team is playing its first game of the year at the new facility - Tiger Athletic Complex - tonight at 7 p.m. against Columbia City. The Tigers played at Fisher Field at the current Lakeview Middle School since the late 1960s.
Marc Garrett, Construction Control Inc. construction manager, said at 8:45 a.m. today the football complex is 95 percent complete and it will be ready for tonight. However, he cautioned the public to stay out of any areas under construction and away from construction materials.
As far as parking goes, Fulkerson said parking will be comparable to a home boys basketball game. Any overflow parking will be directed to the swimming pool parking lot. There will be 20 to 30 handicapped parking spaces and all will be marked.
"Parking will take care of itself," said Fulkerson.
As far as the rest of the WCHS construction, Garrett said off the top of his head, about 45 percent of the auditorium construction is complete. Thirty percent of the work for the weight and wrestling rooms and other additions is finished. The cafeteria and kitchen work is completed and is being used now that school has started Thursday.
The HVAC upgrades, temperature control and new fire alarm system is fairly close to completion. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Garrett said he expects work to be finished by September.
The target date for the completion of the entire school project, Garrett said, is Sept. 1, 2006.
