Warsaw City Council approved continuing a tax abatement for Zimmer Production Monday night. Zimmer Production was granted a 10-year tax abatement on real property in fall 2004. Zimmer originally submitted the personal property tax abatement for itself in 2004, but did not submit the real property tax abatement application. Zimmer has supplied its compliance form for its real property. It has estimated adding 270 additional jobs, and has currently added more than 360 additional jobs. The council also approved an ordinance to amend the personnel policy handbook for the Family and Medical Leave Act policy. The agreement states a military leave can be taken by an employee because of a qualifying exigency arising from the fact that the employee’s spouse, child or parent is on or has been called to covered active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
