Warsaw Approves Vacation Of Public Way

Posted

During a short session Monday, the Warsaw City Council approved the only matter on its agenda, an ordinance to vacate a public way between Jefferson and Center streets.

The property now will be granted to the Bowen Center, which is the adjacent property owner west of the unimproved alleyway.

The Bowen Center made the initial request for the vacation during a Feb. 14 plan commission meeting, where the board gave the issue a favorable recommendation.

Mayor Ernie Wiggins also said the city is planning to order sensors to be used for light displays in the downtown area. The sensors must be installed prior to the hanging of the new lights. Carmen Lock, director of warsaw Community Development Corp., said the lights would be delivered to the WCDC office by Wednesday.

Council members present were Joe Thallemer, Jeff Grose, Bob Morrison, Charlie Smith, George Clemens and Bill Rhoades. Jerry Patterson was absent.

The next meeting is April 17.
