During its short meeting Tuesday afternoon, the City of Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners opened bids for a new truck for the municipal airport. Board President and attorney Jay Rigdon unsealed the two quotes for the 2017 Ford F350 XLT. Minus the trade-in, the net bid from Rice Ford Lincoln was $35,484. Kerlin Motor bid $32,911.80 after trade in except seats. Rigdon asked Airport Manager Nick King if the “except seats” meant anything to him. King said he would have to actually go through the bid to see if Kerlin met the bid specifications. Rigdon asked King what he wanted to do with the bids, and he asked for Rigdon’s opinion on that as legal counsel. “We can do one of two things. One, if we’re not in a hurry, we obviously just take the bids under advisement. If for some reason we’re in a hurry, we can do something different,” Rigdon responded. King said he’d like to order the truck as soon as possible, but it wasn’t a big rush. Rigdon then suggested King check the bid out and then email all the board members with what he found out about Kerlin’s bid not including seats. If Kerlin’s bid does meet specifications, Rigdon said that was probably what the board would decide to go with. In another matter, while the board was reviewing the May claims, King said the $3,290.90 for Hydro-Tech Well Drilling was because the airport had some problems with the well and water system. “We had an underground line break, so they came out and fixed us up and installed a new well pump and pressure tank,” King reported. “They really helped us out for a couple of days there.” Weed Inc. had a claim of $237.50. King said when the line from the well broke, it flooded the septic tank so Weed had to come out and pump the septic tank. The board then approved all of the claims for May 1 through 31.
