Voter turnout was brisk this morning at local voting poll sites in Winona Lake and Warsaw.
In Winona Lake at the Wayne Township Precinct 4 voting site at Gordon Recreation Center, Lynn Howie, poll inspector, said there were 25 people waiting at 6 a.m. outside the polling site to vote today.
Howie, who has been a poll inspector for 20 years, said voting was brisk all morning and she had two new voters in the precinct.
For Wayne Township Precinct 2 at Gordon Rec Center, there were three first-time voters who voted before 7 a.m., Howie said.
At Wayne Township Precinct 10 in Winona Lake, Karen Wildman, precinct inspector, said there were three people waiting at 6 a.m. to vote.
“There has been a steady stream of voters all morning, and this election seems busier voting wise than previous years,” Wildman said.
At the Warsaw Second Ward, Second Precinct polling place at Warsaw City Hall, voting was sporadic this morning, according to Jenny Henning, Warsaw Ward 2-2 poll inspector.
Henning said beginning at 8 a.m. there were three people waiting to vote and there were seven people lined up at 7 a.m. to vote.
At Center Lake Pavilion for the Fifth Ward first and second precincts, voting was brisk this morning.
Linda Overstreet, Warsaw Ward 5-1 poll inspector, said there were 86 people who voted as of 8:45 a.m. out of 563 registered voters.
At the Warsaw 5-2 polling station, there were 80 voters out of 577 voters who voted as of 8:45 a.m., according to Diann Slaymaker, poll inspector.
At Warsaw 5-3, there were 54 voters who voted out of 511 voters as of 8:45 a.m., according to Jill Schroeder, poll inspector.
At the Kosciusko County Shrine Building Warsaw Second Ward, first precinct, and Third Ward, first precinct voting was steady, according to Don Taylor, Warsaw Ward 2-1 poll inspector. There are 2,000 voters in both precincts, and 260 total voters voted in both precincts as of 9 a.m., he said.
