Village Post Offices Open in Cromwell, Etna Green

A village post office opened Tuesday at the Cromwell Town Hall and another one is opening in Etna Green today.
The village post office is opening in Cromwell at the town hall at 200 Water St. and will be open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A village post office is scheduled to open in Etna Green today at George’s Grain Farm, 120 N. Walnut St.
Its hours are Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Cromwell Town Hall Clerk-Treasurer Bob Leamon said the town council was happy to partner with the postal service in setting up the village post office at the town hall for the convenience of the community.
“We’re about 75 feet from the Cromwell Post Office, and we wanted our community to have the opportunity to buy stamps and pick up flat-rate packaging when the post office has closed for the day. We’re open longer than the post office, and we just wanted to make sure the community has access to postal products outside post office hours,” Leamon said.
In 2011, the Postal Service introduced the village post office model as an alternate retail location for postal products and services, especially in rural communities.
Village post offices are operated by local businesses contracting with the postal service, and offer a range of popular postal products and services including stamps and flat-rate packaging.
