The annual Veterans Day Ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 is Nov. 11. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Center Lake Pavilion in Warsaw. Ken Locke and John Sadler will present the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 49 Order of Kosciuszko Award and a Meritorius Award. The Order of Kosciuszko recognizes a veteran who has provided exceptional service to God, country and others in the spirit of Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a Revolutionary War hero. To qualify for the award, a person must be an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, a Kosciusko County resident for no less than five years and provide exceptional volunteer or public service to others in Kosciusko County. The Meritorius Award is for a group that provides exceptional service to veterans. Chuck Hartman, American Legion Post 49 commander, will provide opening remarks and introduce Rev. Roy C. Blake, guest speaker. Kosciusko County Extension Choir will perform. American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126 Honor Guards will post the colors. A 21-gun salute will be provided and taps will be played. Dick Dobbins will toll the bells and Tom Everett, chaplain, will provide an invocation.
