Darryn M.K. Francis, 19, of 920 Anchorage Road, lot 74, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the KCJ at 8:53 p.m. Dec. 4 for possession of marijuana/hash oil/hashish. His preliminary bond was set at $600.
No probable cause affidavit was available this morning on Darryn Francis.
On Dec. 4, Warsaw Police Department officer Phillip Hawks was dispatched to a gas station in reference to a black vehicle with red and blue lights flashing. Upon arrival, Hawks pulled behind the black vehicle and heard it had an exhaust that was much louder than a normal vehicle. Hawks then conducted a traffic stop on it.
He identified the driver as Hodges, the front passenger as Jaylyn Francis and the rear passenger as Darryn Francis.
Hodges admitted he had red and blue lights in his fog lights.
Hawks requested a K-9 unit at the scene and found that Hodges had a suspended license.
All the vehicle occupants got out and the K-9 made a positive alert for illegal drugs inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up a clear plastic bag containing methamphetamine in the center console.
Hawks detected the smell of marijuana emitting from Francis’ person. Court documents state he admitted that he had concealed marijuana and provided Hawks with a plastic bag containing marijuana.
Jaylyn and Darryn Francis were taken to the WPD, with Jaylyn put in an interview room.
Through surveillance footage, WPD officer Brad Kellar advised that he saw Jaylyn Francis attempt to conceal something. Hawks went into the interview room and she admitted that she had concealed a pipe. Jaylyn Francis handed a glass smoking pipe to Hawks that contained methamphetamine residue.
Court documents filed Monday also detail another charge of possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony, against Hodges.
On Nov. 28, Winona Lake Police Department officer Mike Foster was serving a warrant at West Osprey Road, Mentone. He saw – and later identified a man as Hodges – exit the home and remove a rolled-up $1 bill from his right pocket. As Hodges was attempting to unroll the $1 bill, Foster saw a white powder, which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Also found on Hodges was a pill holder containing methamphetamine.
Hodges has bonded out on the charge stemming from the Dec. 4 incident and his initial hearing is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Dec. 20.
Jaylyn Francis has been released and her initial hearing for the Dec. 4 incident is set for 8:15 a.m. Dec. 20.
