Warsaw police are investigating vandalism to at least four Winona Avenue businesses Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Police responded to an alarm at one business shortly before midnight, and three other businesses were found during routine patrol between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. to have open doors.

The alarm came in at 11:42 p.m. Saturday from Sherman & Lin's Discount Grocery & Gifts Inc., 1900 E. Winona Ave. A front door glass was found broken, but nothing is believed missing. Damage was estimated at $300.

At 4:06 a.m. Sunday, Ptl. Scott Quillen found a door open at Jomac Products Inc., 2208 E. Winona Ave., and further investigation revealed the door was broken near the lock area, with part of the lock on the ground. It was not known whether anything was missing from the business. Damage was estimated at $200.

Sgt. Bob Long found a broken glass door on the north side of the B&K Root Beer Drive In, 1403 E. Winona Ave., at 4:14 a.m. An employee told police the cash register was gone through, but only abot $1.50 in cash was believed missing. Damage to the door was estimated at $400.

Another broken door glass was found by Ptl. Brian Hupp at 4:32 a.m. A cement block was apparently thrown through the front door of Boutique Exchange, 919 E. Winona Ave. A damage estimate was not available.

Police contacted owners or employees of all the businesses damaged and windows were being boarded up or replaced early today.
