Two Gatherings Planned For Day Of Prayer

Posted
“Love One Another” is the theme for the 2019 National Day of Prayer.

The theme for Thursday’s remembrance comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34, “Love one another, just as I have loved you.”

Two gatherings have been planned this year to better accommodate all who wish to attend. Organizers say an evening session was added for families who work during the day or have children in school who have never been able to attend.

Kondo Simfukwe, lead pastor for Mission Point Community Church, will be the keynote speaker for both sessions.

Simfukwe was born in London, raised in Zambia, lived his high school years in Australia and came to the United States for college.  He holds a B.A. in biblical studies and a Master of Divinity with a counseling emphasis from Grace College and Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Melissa, have five children.

Sessions will be at noon and 6:30 p.m. at the Winona Heritage Room (formerly Rodeheaver Auditorium) in Winona Lake. Those unable to attend either session are invited to join in prayer wherever they are.

Music for the noon session will be provided by the Brath Family. Richard Dick and Jeff Secaur will provide music at 6:30.

Representatives from the community will be leading prayers for seven focus areas.
