PIERCETON – Two men were apprehended by Pierceton Police Department officers Saturday morning in conjunction with a Friday night bar fight.
Paul Ruckman, 28, of 4980 E. CR 900S, Claypool, and Toran Savant, 26, of 12600 S. Ind. 15, North Manchester, were arrested early Saturday morning and charged with aggravated battery, a Class B felony. Ruckman was additionally charged with invasion of privacy for violating a restraining order.
Pierceton officers were called to a Pierceton bar Friday shortly before 11 p.m. for a bar fight. When officers arrived, Ruckman and Savant had fled the scene.
Pierceton officer Matt Owens said witnesses at the scene informed officers that Ruckman had approached a woman, who had a restraining order on him, outside a bar in Pierceton. A middle-aged male informed Ruckman that he needed to leave, and that was when Ruckman and Savant attacked the man, breaking his leg and an eye socket.
PPD officers attempted to locate Ruckman at his mother’s home in Sidney, but were unsuccessful. Owens said Ruckman’s mother lied to police about knowing her son and refused to tell them where he was.
After officers pressured the mother, she told them where her son was. PPD officers picked up Ruckman in Sidney around 2 a.m.
At 4 a.m. PPD officers located Savant at Melody Acres Mobile Home Park on Ind. 15 north of North Manchester.
Owens said Savant has a history of violent activity.
Both are being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $200,000 bond.
