SILVER LAKE - One man was jailed and another will likely be charged following an incident early Saturday morning in which they allegedly pulled knives on a Silver Lake man.
Eric Smoroske and Charlene Roatcap of Ind. 15S, Silver Lake, told Kosciusko County sheriff's deputies that they were awakened about 2 a.m. by a man yelling in their living room.
When they came out of their bedroom, one man was in the living room and another came up the hallway behind them. The two men, Steven James Ridenour, 32, and John Benton Ridenour, 34, both of 308 N. Jefferson St., Silver Lake, reportedly both had large knives which they pointed at Smoroske. Roatcap ran to a neighbor's residence to call police.
The two suspects, who are brothers, reportedly were demanding money from the couple. Smoroske and Roatcap are apparently purchasing the mobile home on land contract and the Ridenours were the previous occupants of the residence.
One of the men allegedly threatened to burn the mobile home down if they weren't paid. However, Roatcap said the payments on the contract are up-to-date.
Both men were gone when police arrived, but Smoroske was able to show officers where they live. Steven Ridenour was taken into custody there after a short scuffle with police. He is charged with criminal recklessness and intimidation with force, and is being held without bond in the Kosciusko County Jail.
John Ridenour was not located at the residence.
Two knives from the car the two men were reportedly in and two knives and a shotgun from their residence were taken by police for safe keeping.
The incident remains under investigation.
