Friday evening will be a big holiday celebration in Warsaw as the Twinkle Light Celebration and Sip ’N’ Shop hits the downtown while Light Up the Night takes place in Central Park.
The Twinkle Light Celebration runs from 5 to 8 p.m.
Main Street Warsaw Events Coordinator Nora Christiansen said the Twinkle Light Parade will pause at the county courthouse at 6 p.m. to meet up with the mayor for the Christmas tree lighting. After that, the parade then will proceed down Center Street to Indiana Street, continue on to Central Park and circle back to Lake Street.
Quite a few groups are expected to take part in the parade, she said, including the city of Warsaw, local companies and a large group from the KCV Cycling Club.
“So we should have quite a bit of turnout,” Christiansen stated.
The Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club will be downtown with Santa’s House for all the children to visit with Santa Claus.
There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, and The River Coffeehouse will be handing out free hot cocoa. A couple food vendors will be downtown as well, weather permitting.
After the parade, from 6 to 8 p.m., there will be a Sip ’N’ Shop at different downtown Warsaw businesses.
The Christmas Window Decorating Contest voting also kicks off Friday and will last about a week. There will be a QR Code in participating businesses’ windows that people can scan to vote. For those who may not be technologically-inclined, Main Street Warsaw will have a box in their office for written votes. At least a dozen businesses are participating in the window decorating contest.
Sponsors for the Twinkle Light Celebration include Main Street Warsaw, 1st Source Bank, Kensington Media and the Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation.
