AKRON – On Oct. 8 at 10 a.m., the Tippecanoe Valley School Corp. is holding a press conference for its Forest Nature Trail. Pike Lumber Company recently completed the Tippecanoe Valley School Forest Nature Trail. The Nature Trail takes visitors through part of the Tippecanoe Valley School Forest on a path also used for cross country. Along the path, 18 numbered plaques have been posted pointing out different species of trees and plants. Some of those plants include black cherry, sugar maple, red oak, swamp white oak and grey elm, among others. The project was coordinated by Pike Lumber Company Forestland Manager Oliver Grimm and recently completed by Pike Lumber Company Intern Rayanna Reffitt, TVHS graduate and currently a student at Purdue University, during a summer internship with Pike Lumber Company. The Tippecanoe Valley School Forest Nature Trail is available to teachers and students for educational purposes. It is also open to the public.
