On Saturday, Scout Troop 715 held an Eagle Court of Honor for three members.
Life Scout Andrew Frush welcomed the crowd and started the ceremony with the pledge of allegiance. He also lit three candles representing duty to God, duty to country and duty to other people. Life Scout Alex Jordan led the Scouts in the Scout oath and law. Life Scout Chris Cook gave the invocation.
Scoutmaster Dick McCleary introduced the Eagle Honor Guard. The three Eagle Scouts were Zach Laueano (who earned his Eagle Rack in 2012), Jacob Hawn and Bryston Canada (both earned their Eagle Rank in 2016). The Honor Guard then escorted the three Eagle candidates to the stage.
Special guest Jean Northenor introduced the main speaker for the evening, State Rep. David Wolkins.
Winona Lake Town Marshal Joe Hawn, Troop 715’s committee chairman, reflected on his experiences of being associated with the troop and the positive changes in the boys after they joined. The new district executive, Clayton Whisler, pinned the Eagle Scout badge on each of the three Scouts and declared them Eagle Scouts.
District Eagle Chairman Ken Locke gave the Eagle charge and challenged them to be good examples of Scouting and set their standards high.
The new Eagle Scouts then presented their parents with an Eagle parent pin.
The three Scouts who received the Eagle Rank were: Connor Joy, son of Michael and Jenifer, and he had earned 31 merit badges; Meraley Fugate, son of Benji and Julia, and he had earned 39 merit badges; Jeffrey Naundorf-Miller, son of Mindy Miller and Stephanie Naundorf, and he had earned 100 merit badges.
A reception followed in the Fellowship Hall downstairs in the Trinity United Methodist Church on East Center Street.
