Trojan Players Present 'Dastardly Deeds At Yoursin Mine'

Posted

This play's got everything:

Political intrigue, the threat of eminent domain, stalwart law enforcement, audience participation, wealthy landowners, goofy sidekicks, a scheming attorney, pretty saloon girls, French fur trappers, hard working miners and a dog.

But maybe the best part about the Trojan Players' production of "Dastardly Deeds At Yoursin Mine - or - Yukon Take It With You" is the mix of students ranging from third graders to seniors.

Age level doesn't have any bearing on acting skill level as the youngsters time their funny lines with the ease of seasoned performers.

Director Lisa Eiser calls the play a Western melodrama. There are so many parts in Squire Fridell's play she recruited from the elementary school to fill all the roles.

The high school players: Erica Ambrose, Josh Burkholder, Cody Clemons, Tommy Devros, Cole Eiser, Emily Finchum, Matt Harvey, Chrissi Schaetzle, Josh Smith, Stpeh Stichter, Jenn Strycker and Parker Terry shoulder the burden of the big roles and do them justice.

The setting is takes place in the Chilcoot Saloon with portable backdrops, ordered in place by a stage manager, ordering set changes.

There is, in fact, so much going on all the time with characters traipsing on and off stage, scenes developing all the time.

Audience laughter, applause and hissing is encouraged at appropriate moments which will be indicated by the sign girl.

Tickets are $4 adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Advanced tickets, available in the high school office are $3 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.
