WINONA LAKE – The fifth annual Trick-or-Treat on the Trail drew a crowd to Winona Lake Saturday.
Holly Hummitch, park and senior center director, estimated this year was the event’s biggest year. She estimated a couple thousand attended Trick-or-Treat on the Trail.
“As always, it’s a beautiful day and it’s a fun event ...,” she said.
From 3 to 5 p.m., people were able to trick-or-treat along the Winona Lake Greenway.
From 5 to 7 p.m., people were able to gather at Limitless Park. Deb Collier's School of Dance performed and s’mores were available. here was a showing of “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” at dusk.
New to Saturday’s event was a free hayride shuttle by Floyd Bowman with Hill N Dale Farm. The shuttle was to get people to the trailheads and later to do hayrides around Winona Lake.
The shuttle was great due to limited parking, she said.
The purpose of the event was to promote the parks, greenway and trails, as they all work together, she said.
When asked what the benefits of the event was, Hummitch said it was to get out and spend time with friends and family and enjoy Winona Lake.
Hummitch said Trick-or-Treat on the Trail is becoming one of her favorite events because of the “costumes and the smiles and just seeing people interacting and having fun.”
