‘Trick-Or-Treat At The Scairport’ To Come To Warsaw Airport

Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners approved Tuesday holding an event at the airport.
Jeremy Morrison, Morrison Aviation Services, said on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., they want to hold “Trick-or-Treat at the Scairport.”
This is the first year they’ve done it and Morrison said they would like to put on the event annually.
There’s going to be an app where people can register to come out and the event will be limited to 200 people. Morrison said he wants all the local airplanes to come out and for pilots to decorate their planes and provide their own candy.
A prize will be given out for the best decorated airplane.
There will be a lunch provided “at a minimal price.”
The event will be open for children 16 and under, Morrison said.
Board member Steven Smilay asked if there was a liability waiver when people registered in the app.
Morrison said they could absolutely implement something like that, but didn’t know if the app they intended to use had a liability form. He hadn’t looked into it too deeply.
Morrison asked if Smilay was looking at the waiver to be for the pilots and the participants. Smilay said yes.
Airport Manager Nick King said he could reach out to the airport’s insurance company to see if they could provide a liability form they are comfortable with.
King also said if the event this year goes well, they could possibly add more to it next year.
He thought there were already 11 or 12 volunteers for the event besides airport staff.
Later in the meeting, King talked about a possible annexation.
He said there was a property east of the airport the airport purchased in 2014 or 2015 using Federal Aviation Administration funds. The property is outside of city limits.
King asked for board approval to go to the Warsaw Common Council to officially ask for the property to be annexed into the city.
In other business, the board approved:
• A CHA invoice for $70,425.92 for work on Taxiway B.
• Pay application 1 from Phend & Brown for $960,916.27 for work on Taxiway B.
• A CHA invoice for $4,000 for work on the airport overlay district.
• CHA invoices for $10,351.21 and $28,092.67 for work on runway 9-27.
• Pay application 1 from Phend & Brown for $773,083.53 for work on runway 9-27.
