Tri-Kappa Sorority and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation's Women's Giving Circle have partnered to promote women's heart health.

The Community Foundation's Women's Giving Circle awarded a grant to Tri-Kappa to promote a women's heart health campaign in Kosciusko County. Recognizing heart disease as the number one cause of death among women, the two groups will present the campaign, which culminates in a free Heart Truth for Women program at the Wagon Wheel Theatre Thursday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Free health screenings, including blood pressure and Body Mass Index, will be available beginning at 6:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. The program will be facilitated by television news anchor Melissa Long of WPTA, and the featured speaker will be Dr. Stephen Reed of the Heart Center Medical Group. The program also will include women's stories of heart disease. The program is expected to last about one hour.

All area women are invited to attend and encouraged to bring a friend. Reservations are not necessary. Those attending will have an opportunity to enter a drawing to win one of two items, including a Swarovski crystal red dress pin.

Women of Kosciusko County are encouraged to wear red on Friday for "National Wear Red Day" to further support women's heart health awareness.
