Teachers and students alike donned their pirate costumes Thursday night during literacy night at Leesburg, Lincoln, Harrison and Claypool elementary schools.
The theme was 'Treasure Island,' and was made possible by a Reading Is Fundamental grant and the schools' parent-teacher organizations. Long John Silvers donated 500 pirate hats for the 1-1/2-hour literacy night.
After a 'Pirate Reader's Theater,' students rotated from station to station. Stations included 'Walk the Plank,' 'Booty Bingo' and 'Treasure Trove.' Pictured are Leesburg teachers and students ready to sail into reading.
