The International Collectors Association will bring its Treasure Hunters Roadshow to Warsaw this month.
The roadshow will make a stop in Warsaw Feb. 10-14 at Holiday Inn Express, 3825 Lake City Highway.
During the free event, local people will have a chance to talk to antique and collectible experts for free.Roadshow times in Warsaw are Feb. 10-13 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Feb. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Shannon Stott, International Collectors Association public relations director, said the association does eight to 10 shows a week in the United States. The association is based out of Springfield, Ill.
"We have great success in small towns, and the show has been on the road for 15 years," Stott said.
She said after the show stops in Warsaw, it will visit Greenfield. She said the show has previously been in Indianapolis.
The association is on an 18-month treasure hunt.
During its stop in Warsaw, the treasure hunters are hoping to see items such as coins and paper currency issued prior to 1965, toys, dolls, trains, vintage jewelry, old and modern musical instruments, war memorabilia, gold and silver jewelry, costume jewelry, advertising memorabilia, swords, knives and daggers.
Nearly all coins, vintage jewelry, musical instruments, and toys made prior to 1965 are highly sought after by collectors.
The treasure hunters make offers based on what the their collectors will pay. When someone decides to sell, they get paid on the spot and treasure hunters send the item to the collector at their expense.
People can empty their jewelry box, dig out their old teeth containing dental gold, find gold coins, and gold bars. Gold is traded on the stock market and prices fluctuate daily. The roadshow will buy gold based on the day's current gold value.
Recent finds included a Civil War cache in an attic, more than $1.2 million worth of silver bars buried on an Illinois farm, Confederate money hidden in the walls of a residence uncovered during a remodel, and an Abraham Lincoln hand-written thank you letter expressing thanks for a night's stay while traveling to Chicago.
