Traffic Stop Leads To Meth Charges For Winona Lake Man

Posted
WINONA LAKE – A Winona Lake man was arrested late Thursday after a traffic stop led officers to an active meth lab.
Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers pulled over Joshua Bruce Obacz, 33, of 824 E. CR 1250N, Milford, just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Kings Highway in Winona Lake for what sheriff’s department spokesman Sgt. Chad Hill said was a “routine violation.” But when deputies and a Warsaw Police Department K-9 searched the vehicle, unidentified meth-related items were found, Hill said.
The discovery led those task force officers to a home at 2338 Lake Sharon Road, Winona Lake, where inside police found an active meth lab, Hill said.
The Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team was called in to process the lab, Hill said.
Obacz was arrested and booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of manufacturing methamphetamine. He is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
It is unclear who owned the Lake Sharon Road home the lab was discovered in, or if the homeowner will face charges.
