Tippy Lake Club Scoops Up Record 200-foot Sundae

LEESBURG – Tippecanoe Lake Country Club broke the world record for the longest ice cream dessert Sunday.

The previous record of 150 feet was set April 9 by St. Anne’s School in Bethlehem, Pa. The dessert created at Tippy was 200 feet long.

The idea to break the record came from Chief Operations Officer Paul Kornfeind after he saw CNN cover St. Anne’s event.

With the Regatta already planned for Sunday, adding the attempt for a world’s record sounded like a good way to get some positive public relations for the club.

Executive Chef Matt Fry started preparing for the record-shattering dessert a couple days in advance by making the sheet cake. Tippecanoe Lake Country Club staff and volunteers helped assemble the dessert.

The ice cream dessert was made outside in the driveway of the Club. Eight-foot tables were set up end to end. Mullets Seamless Guttering & Construction, Leesburg, provided a seamless 200-foot eavesdrop.

A certified official from the Kosciusko County Department of Weights and Measures, Larry Marner, was on hand to measure the dessert. He used a certified tape measure from Indianapolis, to make it all official.

Everyone attending the record attempt was invited to indulge in the dessert after the record is broken.

Sysco Food Systems provided the food for the dessert at cost, and Warsaw Party Rental was a sponsor.
