His prior experience includes several years in private practice and nine years of judicial experience as the first and only small claims referee for Kosciusko County.
As the current chief deputy prosecutor, he has several years experience prosecuting felony cases and representing Indiana in juvenile delinquency matters. He has also gained experience in prosecuting cases in Kosciusko Superior Court II.
He and his wife, Christine, have an 8-year-old son, Jonathan. Tinkey is involved with his son in baseball and Cub Scouts.
Tinkey also is involved in the community and his church, including the Akron School Improvement Leadership Cabinet, the Kosciusko County School Safety committee, the National Rifle Association and Quail Unlimited, and he is a graduate of Kosciusko Leadership Academy. In addition, he has taught courses for Indiana Wesleyan University.
If elected, Tinkey said he wants to work with schools and law enforcement agencies to address the continuing issue of juvenile delinquency in the county.
According to Tinkey, his broad-based experience will assist in hearing both civil and criminal cases. His work as chief deputy prosecutor will give insight and a sense of direction in handling those cases.
Having lived in the county most of his life, he said he believes he is well qualified with an understanding of community values that will enable him to apply the existing laws effectively.
