SILVER LAKE - Three people are dead after a two-vehicle accident about 9:28 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Ind. 14 and County Farm Road, near Silver Lake. Police said alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Dead at the scene were Rex A. Dolby, 56, North Webster, and a passenger in Dolby's car, Mary E. Brindle, 77, North Webster. Dolby and Brindle both suffered massive head and internal injuries. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The driver of the other vehicle, Andrew D. Dotson, 23, Akron, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from massive head and internal injuries. Dotson was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
Dotson's vehicle caught fire after impact, but Dotson was removed from the car by a passing motorist.
A blood test revealed Dotson had a blood-alcohol content of .186 percent.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, four witnesses said Dotson passed two vehicles and made no attempt to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Ind. 14 and County Farm Road. Witnesses also said no brake lights were visible on Dotson's car prior to impact. Officers at the scene were unable to locate any signs of skidmarks, officials said.
Brindle was the mother of Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department Detective Sgt. Tom Brindle.
