This Year's Fair Theme Is 'Blue Jeans And Country Dreams'

In its 95th year, the Kosciusko County Fair has brought in two of its biggest acts to headline. As reported earlier by the Times-Union, Hinder and Kellie Pickler will perform at this year’s fair. Pickler will perform July 13 at 8 p.m. General admission grandstand tickets for her are $10 with reserved track seating $20. It will be a full show for Pickler, who will spend the summer promoting a new album and her new single “Tough”. Hinder will perform July 14 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the band are $20 and they are all general admission grandstand. Hinder’s show will be family friendly. Tickets sales for both concerts have been brisk, according to the fair’s entertainment director Mike Loher. Concert sponsors this year are Louis Dreyfus, Symmetry Medical, Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller, Medtronic, R & B Car Company, Sorg Nissan, Mike Long Family Farms and Variety Attractions. Things kick off for the fair July 10. It’s a free admission day as food stands are set up. The community parade will be at 4 p.m. with Ellsworth Everest and Everest Excavating serving as the grand marshall. The opening ceremonies are at 6 p.m. at the grandstand. The midway opens for the first time July 11 at 6 p.m. In the grandstand that night will be the Kokomo Quarter Midgets at 7:30 p.m. Starting Monday, every day of the week, people can get in free before 1 p.m. The Indianapolis Colts’ Make It Personal tour rolls through July 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. where players and cheerleaders will sign autographs and take pictures. The Akron go-carts will be at 7:30 p.m. at the grandstand that night. Stock Truck Pulls will be at 7 p.m. July 15 in the grandstand. July 16 will see the return of the Semi Truck Show and Shine after several years of not being in the fair. Alan and Ashcroft will perform during the event. Registration for the event starts at 8 a.m. day of with judging in the afternoon and winners announced at 8 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. July 16, truck and tractor pulls will start. Big Cat Encounter will also be back at the fair this year. It’s a free on-grounds show. The show will be July 12 at 3, 5 and 8 p.m.; July 13 and 14 at 5 and 8 p.m.; and July 15 and 16 at 3, 5, and 8 p.m. There will also be a hot dog eating contest sponsored by Owen’s. As far as rides are concerned, Mid-America will once again be in charge of the midway and the “Freak Out” is expected to return.
