PIERCETON - A 19-year-old man was in serious condition Friday night at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne suffering from head injuries caused by a collision with a pickup truck Friday afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.
Jonathan W. Patterson, Beech Lane, Warsaw, was involved in the accident at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Van Ness at 1:10 p.m. Friday, according to Kosciusko County Sheriff C. Aaron Rovenstine.
Kenneth L. Batt, 46, Lopshine Drive, New Haven, was treated and released from the Kosciusko Community Hospital for injuries suffered in Friday's crash, a KCH representative said.
The Samaritan Helicopter airlifted Patterson from the scene to Parkview, Rovenstine said.
Patterson, who was driving a Pontiac Firebird, failed to yield to Batt, "resulting in a T-Bone collision," Rovenstine said.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Pierceton and Warsaw police departments, the Indiana State Police, Multi-Township EMS, Pierceton and Warsaw fire departments and Samaritan Air Ambulance.
