Teen Raises Money For Special OlympicsSYRACUSE – Wawasee High School senior Morgan Adkins recently conducted a fundraiser for Kosciusko County Special Olympics.
The fundraiser included a Special Olympics night at a Jan. 18 Wawasee boys basketball game. Throughout the night a raffle took place, and players from the Kosciusko Special Olympics played during the varsity halftime.
“I have been a part of helping raise money for Special Olympics since I was a freshman. I love the atmosphere in the gym when everyone cheers for the Special Olympic players on the court. It is truly amazing to see how the community comes together to raise money for such a great cause,” Adkins said.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for intellectually disabled children and adults.
Adkins’ younger sister, Kennedi, plans to continue the fundraiser after Morgan graduates this year.
