SYRACUSE – A Syracuse woman was arrested early Saturday morning after hitting a utility pole.
Hillary N. Loveless, 21, of 11885 N. Forest Drive, Syracuse, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and booked into Kosciusko County Jail at 4:52 a.m. Saturday.
According to a report from Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy James Marshall, Loveless allegedly told him she was driving eastbound on CR 1000N when she swerved to avoid a deer.
Marshall said she over-corrected and went off the road, striking a utility pole about 800 feet west of CR 900E.
Marshall noted the utility pole was leaning “dangerously” over CR 1000N.
Loveless agreed to a field sobriety test and registered a .14 blood alcohol content.
She was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a $550 bond.
The damage of the incident was estimated to be between $5,000 and $10,000.
Utilities crews were called about the pole.
