SOUTH WHITLEY - A Whitko High School senior was critically injured in a one-vehicle accident Thursday near South Whitley.
Jeffrey E. Estep, 19, of South Whitley, suffered head injuries when he lost control of the van he was driving. The vehicle slid sideways before rolling onto its top. Estep, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered head injuries in the 9:30 a.m. accident on Ind. 5, north of Whitley CR 600W.
Police said Estep overcorrected when the wheels of his van dropped off the edge of the roadway on which construction was taking place.
Estep, who was set to graduate with his class today, was listed in critical condition this morning at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
