SYRACUSE - A Carmel teenager is in stable condition following a game of "chicken" gone wrong.

The Kosciusko County Dispatch Center received a call at 2:39 a.m. today in regards to Andrew Wagner, 18, of Carmel, being struck by the "cow catcher/blade" of an eastbound CSX Train between Warner and Bishop Road in Syracuse.

Wagner suffered a severe laceration to his abdomen after being struck, a police report said.

According to investigators, Wagner was apparently playing a game of "chicken" with the train when Wagner failed to jump clear of the track, according to two other males present at the scene.

Alcohol is being investigated as a factor in the incident. Wagner was listed in stable condition as of this morning at Parkview.

The Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Critical Team was sent to the scene and is currently investigating the incident.
