WABASH - A 16-year-old boy was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon following an accidental electrical shock at the Wabash County fairgrounds, according to the Wabash County Sheriff's Department.
Brandon Boling, of Defuniak, Fla., was helping his father assemble a ride, witnesses said. Another fairgrounds worker, Joel Baldwin, 31, also of Florida, pulled Boling away from the electrical current.
Investigators discovered that the ground wire in a large electrical plug had come loose, Sheriff Tim Roberts said.
When sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene, volunteer firemen were performing CPR on the teen-ager. Boling was revived at Wabash County Hospital and then rushed to Parkview Hospital's Intensive Care Unit in Fort Wayne.
An independent electrician reattached the loose ground wire and checked the electrical system, deputies said. The system was found to be working properly.
Boling was listed in critical condition this morning at Parkview.
