PALESTINE - A Warsaw teen was killed Saturday after driving his sedan off the roadway and slamming head-on into a tree.
Andrew Mathias Wagoner, 19, of 3265 S. Ind. 25, Warsaw, died Sunday of head injuries suffered in a crash on Bruner Road just south of Ind. 25 around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, the Allen County Coroner’s Office said early today. Wagoner had been airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne hospital following the violent front-end collision with a tree.
According to the Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team, Wagoner – an active member of the Indiana National Guard – was northbound on Bruner Road when his 1993 Dodge Intreped inexplicably went off the east side of the roadway and slammed into a tree. Police and medics found Wagoner pinned in the car, and unconscious, according to investigators.
He was cut from the vehicle and flown to Parkview Hospital in extreme critical condition, where he died less than a day later.
Investigators said the crash remains under investigation, and they are awaiting blood test results to come back, per state regulations.
