Warren H. Tatter Sr. will be remembered by co-workers for his commitment and long-running involvement in local politics.
He died Sunday in his Warsaw residence at 82 years old.
Tatter was active in the Kosciusko County Republican Party, serving as a poll worker and precinct committeeman until a few years ago, and served one term on Kosciusko County Council beginning in 1990.
He also was on the Oakwood Cemetery Board of Regents since 1982, holding the office of president several times.
In 2011 he was appointed as the Kosciusko County GOP Man of the Year.
“He always tried to treat people fair and make logical decisions as a county council member,” recalled Sue Ann Mitchell, Kosciusko County treasurer. “He always seemed to be very fair when dealing with budgets.”
Kosciusko County attorney Mike Miner remembered Tatter chairing county Republicans before and after his own tenure.
“He was a nice guy, a hard worker,” Miner said. “You never asked him to do something, to help out with something, and he didn’t say sure.”
