Syracuse Woman Faces Charges In False Reporting Of Child Abuse

Posted

A Syracuse woman was jailed Wednesday for allegedly falsely reporting a case of child abuse.

Christina Golden, 35, of 11721 Ind. 13, was released from the Kosciusko County Jail after posting $250 bond.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Golden went to the welfare department to report that her 7-year-old son was beaten with a belt by his father while at his father and stepmother's house. The alleged incident reportedly left bruises on the child's calves.

A welfare caseworker and a sheriff's deputy went to Golden's house to talk with the child and inspect the bruises. Both officials noticed the bruises looked odd, a report said.

The caseworker used a wet washcloth to clean the injured area and the "bruises" washed off.

The child reportedly told the caseworker and officer that his father and stepmother do not abuse him and that he was just doing what his mother told him to do.

The abuse charges were deemed unsubstantiated and the case was closed.
