SYRACUSE - Bids for the Syracuse street and alley paving project were opened Thursday by the Syracuse Town Council.
Reith-Riley was awarded the job with a low base bid of $92,077.66. Other bidders included Brooks, NiBlock and Phend & Brown.
The town allotted only $80,000 for the project. Town manager Brian Redshaw and utilities department head Kent Thielka will work with Reith-Riley to prioritize which streets and alleys need paving to get the cost within budget.
Some of the preparation work for the project is included in the bids. If the town does some of the prep work, the cost also will be lowered.
Town council comprises Barbara Carwile, Paul Stoelting, Bill Hane, Bill Cutter and Carol Koble.
