Posted
SYRACUSE – The Syracuse Town Council met Tuesday night for its regular November meeting.
Though he has been serving as Syracuse town marshal for over a month, officer Jim Layne was officially sworn in last night to replace Tony Ciriello. Layne’s family was in attendance and cheered him on along with the council and the  rest of the audience.
Community members are encouraged to come to the Lakeland Youth Center from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday to build gingerbread houses. Then at 4 p.m., walk across the street to the park where there will be the annual tree lighting ceremony. This event takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. and will feature a choir, clog dancers, a visit from Santa Claus and the lighting of the Christmas tree.
In other news, the board approved the purchase of a new snow plow blade and three new fire hydrants for the Oakwood association. Beside that, there was no new business.
The last board meeting of the year will be Dec. 16 and will cover the swearing in of new city officials.
